Finding A Treasure Without Looking For ItI grew up in a Catholic home in the capital city of El Salvador. I feared God but I have to admit that I did not love Him and I was not really seeking Him. One day my eldest brother invited me to a Christian meeting. At the beginning I was reluctant to go because I was not interested in the things of God. But in order to make my brother happy I decided to go. When I got into the home where the meeting was taking place, I was very amazed by the happy, shining faces of the attendants. They were singing and praising the Lord and were all very happy. I felt that they had something that I did not have. They had Christ as their reality. From then on there I have experienced a gradual attraction to the Lord. I even began to fall in love with Him. This was the beginning of my experience of salvation and my first contact with the local church. This happened when I was only twelve years old. Now, thirteen years later, the Lord continues to be so rich, fresh, and living in my daily life and church life. I migrated to Toronto, Canada ten years ago and I have had the privilege to continue knowing and pursuing this precious One with the brothers and sisters in the local church in Toronto. There I have had the opportunity to get into the word with some other Christian sisters and care for the younger believers. This is becoming my life and my living and this makes my joy full! I'm very thankful for the Lord's mercy in saving me and also for bringing me to a place where I can know Him and experience Him in a real way. I praise the Lord for the local church where I have been able to pursue the Lord with others and get to know this wonderful One. Looking Away Unto Jesus Looking away unto Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith... (Heb. 12:2) I have found that looking away unto Jesus is the secret to run the heavenly race here on the earth. Our Christian life is likened by Paul in 1 Corinthians 9 to the running of a race. In order for believers to run the spiritual race Christ should be our center and our focus. In Hebrews 12:1 Paul encouraged us to put away every encumbrance and run the race set before us. I have been saved for ten years and I have to testify that there has been many encumbrances and many entangling things along the way, but verse 2 reveals that the secret to my escaping all the distracting things is simply looking away unto Jesus! As I look to this Wonderful One, His beauty attracts me to Him and this enables me to leave all other things behind. As I look to Him He infuses me with Himself as life. It is His life that enables me to run the Christian race. In my natural life I have no way to live the Christian life. I need His life. Kenia Morales | Back to List |
